Art by OMBRUJA

OMBRUJA is a curatorial and cultural force operating at the nexus of art, technology, and human experience. Through intentional storytelling and refined craftsmanship, the brand elevates both digital and physical collections that resonate with cultural significance and institutional merit.

Sacred Avatars

2021

Sacred Avatars established OMBRUJA as a pioneer in culturally intentional digital art. Launched in 2021 among the first wave of symbolic PFP collections, it positioned digital portraiture as a medium for luxury, identity, and patronage.

The exclusive, limited-edition collection features multicultural avatars designed with deliberate symbolic and spiritual intention, combining handmade artistry with digital generative processes. Each piece incorporates ancestral references, protective elements, sacred geometry, ritual symbols, and markers of balance and identity. Sacred Avatars is recognized as a seminal example of culturally driven digital portraiture, foregrounding representation and meaning in the emerging digital art landscape.

Somos

2022

Somos is a photographic collection composed of three works—Somos Protección, Somos Compasión, and Somos Soberanía—that together reflect Costa Rica's national identity through values of environmental stewardship, empathy, and self-determination. Created during the Bicentenary of Independence of Costa Rica, the collection embodies a country that has chosen peace, sustainability, and human dignity as foundational principles.

The collection was photographed by Eloy Mora, whose visual language captures both the symbolic and lived dimensions of Costa Rican identity. Garment photography was created by Dinorah Graue, adding material presence and narrative depth to the collection's visual expressions.

Somos Protección centers on the responsibility to safeguard nature, positioning the environment not as a resource to be exploited but as a living entity to be protected.

Somos Compasión explores empathy and care as collective forces; this work was donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, extending the collection's values into direct philanthropic action.

Somos Soberanía reflects autonomy, resilience, and the right of a people to define their future—honoring Costa Rica's historical commitment to peace and self-governance.

Officially launched in collaboration with the Costa Rican government under the Decarbonized Costa Rica initiative, Somos aligns art with national purpose. The collection envisions a future where progress is measured not by extraction or domination, but by balance, responsibility, and shared humanity.

OMBRUJA × Nifty Gateway

2022–2023

Between 2022 and 2023, OMBRUJA became the first publisher on Nifty Gateway to develop multidisciplinary collections spanning photography, AI, illustration, and animation.

This groundbreaking partnership produced 16 sold-out collections and established a curatorial framework that bridges fine art, emerging technology, and human-centered narratives. The collaboration culminated in two major Art Basel exhibitions: Immersion (2022) and The Art of Wellness (2023), both of which explored the intersection of aesthetics, innovation, and meaning-making in contemporary culture.

OMBRUJA is the first and only digital artist to have recorded the Wheel of the Year through Wiccan tradition, releasing each sacred season as a complete and intentional collection. The cycle—Samhain, Yule, Imbolc, Ostara, Beltane, Litha, Lughnasadh, and Mabon—was created and released over the course of 2022–2023, culminating in the final collection, The Wheel of the Year, which marked the completion of the full ritual cycle.

CryptoBrujas

2023

Released exclusively for existing collectors in 2023, CryptoBrujas represents a conceptual evolution in OMBRUJA's exploration of intuition, power, and modern mysticism.

This limited-edition digital photography collection introduced an original contribution to the industry: it became the first collection to include the photographed subject as part of the on-chain metadata, establishing a new standard for authorship, consent, and representation. Institutions including GQ3, NFT NYC, and Time Pieces recognized CryptoBrujas as pioneering talent-presented provenance by formally embedding subject attribution within the artwork's metadata. The artist retains full copyrights.
